Es originario del sur de Jap\u00f3n y del este y sureste de China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este \u00e1rbol puede alcanzar 35 m de altura, es de copa estrecha, algo piramidal y est\u00e1 formado por uno o varios troncos. Sus hojas son de color verde claro y son planas en forma de abanico. Las flores se encuentran en grupos de 2 o 3, produciendo una semilla blanda de color marr\u00f3n amarillento que al abrirlas despiden un olor rancio ya que contienen \u00e1cido but\u00edrico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es una especie muy longeva; se han localizado algunos ejemplares con m\u00e1s de 2500 a\u00f1os.
